5 Essential Gadgets for New Consultants (Consulting Basics)

Most consultants work long hours and travel all the time. You spend a huge amount of your time actually spent in your client’s location, often working in weird, frustrating places.

Clients tend to hide consultants in peculiar side-rooms to minimize distraction.

You need to be ready with the following 5 pieces of kit!

These pieces of kit make that lifestyle a hell of a lot easier. I have taken the time to ask consultants what they use (on our Facebook group) and I found that these are their most highly recommended products.

5 Essential Gadgets For New Consultants

1. Key Ring Charger

You might think you have charging covered with a portable or wall charger.

Wrong!

Firstly, there’s nothing more annoying than leads all around a meeting room.  It also just looks a bit unprofessional.

With a key ring charger, everything changes!

With this neat little gadget, you can fill your devices with juice and no-one will notice. It can hold an immense amount of power, too!

Check out the kind of key ring chargers that seem to be pretty popular in the whole consultancy world here.

2. Mouse

Mouse

Everyone’s got one!

But a lot of consultants say the same – you don’t understand how much laptop work you’ll be doing until you are doing it.

Even if you are someone who doesn’t mind using the finger pad, you will quickly change your mind. Your digits will be hanging by their tendons after a day’s work and this mouse takes the pain off.

Using a mouse with your laptop is not rocket science, but makes a big difference to efficiency and office health! The kind we recommend you can find here.

3. Chilly Water Bottle

Chilly are the best in the business.

It is 100% worth investing in a good water bottle early on in your career. Not only does this avoid the plastic waste, but this bottle also keeps your drink COLD!

It works just like a flask but in reverse. Awesome.

Check out my favorite Chilly Water Bottle here.

4. Laptop Case

Just makes you look good!

You obviously don’t want to damage your computer, but more importantly, this thing looks pro when you walk into a meeting room.

You don’t want to be tucking it under your arm like a 6th grader. Dress for the job you want, not the one you have.

You can find the kind of laptop bag that will do the job just fine here.

5. Flask

Flask

Last but not least.

You never have any spare time as a consultant. Whether you want to save money on your morning coffee or want just want to have your soup on the move, this is a necessity.

DO NOT bother with the 1.2l edition.  Literally no-one needs that.

Check out the flask here – it’s perfect.
